Trophy Is Back Where it Belongs

WOW it’s been 4 months since I wrote a blog post. Time really does fly.

“Chelsea Champs Again” No surprise to me, I thought we bagged it when we beat Liverpool 2 – 0 at the bridge. Would have probably got our double if not for them, well there is always next year. Champions League + FA Cups sounds better though.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon told BBC Radio Five Live "It will be three in and three out,"

"We have got a 24-man squad and that is what we want to maintain. We think that is right for the competitions we are in. It is right from a rotation point of view.

We can improve, we need to improve and we will improve, but we are talking about improving what is already a fantastic squad. It is not easy."

My Predictions are as follows

Defender
(OUT)Ricardo Carvalho (IN)????????

Midfielder
(OUT)Damien Duff (IN)Michael Ballack

Striker
(OUT)Hernan Crespo (IN)Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Andriy Shevchenko

I would really hate it if Ricardo Carvalho, Damien Duff or Hernan Crespo left the club, but I have a strong feeling its going to be these three and I don’t think Maniche is going to be a part of the squad next season, so it’s 4 out.

Well that’s it, and this is most probably my last post, I got stuff coming up that’s not going to gimme enough time to blog. Ill probably drop a few lines after each of Chelseas big wins and hopefully 2006 – 2007 will be the year we conquer Europe, Ill definitely drop by everyone’s blog now and then.

Want to thank everyone too, for visiting and commenting. Cheers!!!!!

P.S I’m supporting Argentina for the World Cup.

Blog Closed Till March

I fell I can’t really do justice to my blog at the moment because of my new job, so I have decided to take a small break. I will start blogging again, however that would be sometime in the month of March (end) – April.

The reason: - I plan to quit my job around then and get back to studies and would be in a position to dedicate an hour or so to some good blogging.

Well by then Chelsea would have beaten Barcelona, and we would be in the Quarter Finals which take place on the 28th of March & the 05th of April. I still will be visiting everyone’s blog. So goodbye for now and hope to see you’ll all in a few months.

Mourinho’s Famous Lines

On his arrival - June 2004

“We have top players and, sorry if I'm arrogant, we have a top manager.”

“I'm not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones, those that achieve success and those that don't. Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one.”

On his new job - July 2004

“If I wanted to have an easy job...I would have stayed at Porto - beautiful blue chair, the Uefa Champions League trophy, God, and after God, me.”

On Arsenal after their 5-4 win at Spurs - November 2004

“That was not a football score, it was a hockey score...in training I often play matches of three against three and when the score reaches 5-4 I send the players back to the dressing room, because they are not defending properly.”

On Sir Alex Ferguson - January 2005

“This is nothing against Sir Alex whatsoever. After the game on Wednesday we were together in my office and we spoke and drank wine. Unfortunately it was a very bad bottle of wine and he was complaining, so when we go to Old Trafford for the second leg, on my birthday, I will take a beautiful bottle of Portuguese wine.”

On Blackburn - February 2005

“Look at the blond boy in midfield, Robbie Savage, who commits 20 fouls during the game and never gets a booking. We came here to play football and it was not a football game, it was a fight and we fought and I think we fought fantastically.”

On leading the title race - February 2005

“We are on top at the moment but not because of the club's financial power. We are in contention for a lot of trophies because of my hard work.”

On Roman Abramovich - March 2005

If he helped me out in training we would be bottom of the league and if I had to work in his world of big business, we would be bankrupt!”

On Liverpool after Champions League loss - May 2005

“It was a goal that came from the moon - from the Anfield stands.”

“The best team lost. After they scored only one team played, the other one just defended for the whole game.”

“Liverpool scored, if you can say that they scored, because maybe you should say the linesman scored.”

On Manchester United - May 2005

“I saw their players and manager go for a lap of honour after losing to us in their last home game. In Portugal if you do this, they throw bottles at you!”

On Arsenal's French farce of a penalty - October 2005

“You have to wonder why they did that penalty. Because they have so many penalties in the season, that's why. They have to do something special and different.”

The Last and Most FAMOUS....................

On Arsene Wenger - October 2005

“I think he is one of these people who is a voyeur. He likes to watch other people. There are some guys who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to see what happens in other families. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea.”

Just for the record I still think Mourinho is one of the best Damm things that happened to Chelsea, this post just shows how entertaining he can be off the pitch too.

So Close Yet So Far

Well Chelsea’s star mid-fielder Frank Lampard, this time too finished 2nd to Ronaldinho in the FIFA’s World Player of the Year award. The reason I said “Yet So Far” is because Ronaldinho polled 956 points while Lampard polled 306 and Eto'o 190.

Well those figured don’t lie, Ronaldinho beat Lampard by a whopping 650, well there’s always next year. Ronaldinho bagged the award for the second time in a row, which just proves how popular he is among the national team coach and captain from each member association in FIFA(Voters.)

After the results were announced Lampard had this to say “To come second to Ronaldinho is almost a victory. I'm very happy. To come second is a fantastic achievement for me - there's so many great players in the world.”

“Ronaldinho is so good, he fully deserves to be crowned the best player in the world. I think I've improved, I work very hard, I train very hard, I'm very ambitious and I want to get better every season. I put my progress down to the hard work I've put in and the help of my team-mates. Playing with good players makes your job a lot easier.”

“I try to improve every year - this year I came second, next year I will try to come first. It's a big season, a World Cup year, and I'm hoping for success for my teams.”

There has been a lot of talk about Lampard moving to Barcelona, so the Chelsea vice-captain decided to comment on that once and for all. “I'm a Chelsea player, I'm a very loyal player, and I concentrate 100% on the team - it's impossible for me to do anything else. I have a fantastic manager, fantastic team-mates around me that have helped me get to this position and I'm looking forward to big success this year.”

“When I play I try to contribute to my team whether it's for Chelsea or for England so that's what I'll be looking for next year. Personal awards are good but the team awards are the ones I really want. I would happily swap the World Player award to win the Champions League.”

Well the Man in Blue has spoken, Barca Beware!!!!!! The Blues are Coming!!!

We Drew Barcelona Again

I Cant believe this SHIT!!! Barcelona again!!!!!

Well we’ll have to show them AGAIN who’s the better team. Last year Barcelona were favorites to win the Champs League, but Chelsea shocked the world by knocking them out of the tournament in one of the most exciting matches I have ever seen.

This only calls for a repeat performance, however the 1st game will be at Stamford Bridge this time on the 21/22 of February and the 2nd leg at Camp Nou on the 7/8 of March. Michael Essien will be missing both legs against Barcelona due to the ban by UEFA, however our ace defensive mid-fielder Claude Makelele is expected to return by then.

Barcelona might be a stronger, more well settled side this year, but Chelsea too have gotten stronger with additions like Crespo, Wright-Phillips and Del Horno who would be featuring in the game, there isn’t really any need for me to comment on how well the Chelsea team gel together.

Other fixtures are as follows:

Real Madrid v Arsenal

Werder Bremen v Juventus

Bayern Munich v AC Milan

PSV Eindhoven v Lyon

Ajax v Inter Milan

Benfica v Liverpool

Rangers v Villarreal

Update: The home leg will be played on Wednesday 22nd February with away leg on Tuesday 7th March.

All in One

I wasn’t able to update my blog in the last few days cause I’ve kind of been busy with work. Well this post should cover all the important stuff that happened this week.

Most important news, the Champions League draw is gonna happen today, at UEFA headquarters in Switzerland at 11am London time (Approximately 4 hours after I post this.)

Arjen Robben has worked his way back into form, though he is far from his best, he had this to say “I would like to face either Villarreal or AC Milan, It’s just a feeling. It is not that I am afraid of getting the other ones. I think we can beat anyone but its just some teams are different and I would prefer to play one of them.”

However Juventus coach Fabio Capello has openly admitted that if would prefer not to play Chelsea at such an early stage in the competition. Capello also express how shock he was to find out Manchester United haven't even qualified for the UEFA Cup. Juventus could also be paired with Capello’s former club Real Madrid.

UEFA have handed Chelsea star midfielder Michael Essien a 2 game ban for his tackle on Liverpool’s Dietmar Hamann during the Champions League match at Stamford Bridge on December 6th. Essien will be missing both legs of the UEFA Champions League Knock Out Round (on 21/22 February and 7/8 March.)

Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu who completed his ban and now plays for Juventus, lost a court case to Chelsea regarding his dismissal by Chelsea on the 15th of December. The Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the appeal and ordered Mutu to pay Chelsea costs of 20,000 Swiss francs (Are Chelsea on a roll or what? we just cant stop the Money from coming in?) Chelsea will be applying to FIFA for compensation.

Roy Keane has signed a one and a half year deal with Celtic a club he supported as a kid. He admitted that he had talked with a number of interested parties since his departure from Manchester United last month and that included Spanish giants Real Madrid, Everton, Bolton and a few others. It is believed that Keane signed with Celtic in spite of them offering him a salary package half of what he received at Manchester United (around 90,000 pounds at United.)
